This 3D-printing sculpture is based on a
four-dimensional polytope
called the 120-cell, consisting of 120 dodecahedra.
The geometry
is a bit much to explain concisely here, but I have drafted a
description of the algorithm.
Thie above rendering is intended to make
clear that the design is very efficient in its use of triangles.
Here we are looking in one of its nice
axial directions.
The idea behind the title is that if bees had five legs, maybe their
homes would have five sides.
