Nessie is a 7-inch diameter
one-of-a-kind sculpture assembled
from thirty identical pieces of laser-cut wood (aspen). As with any
sculpture, it is difficult to describe it in words or capture it in a
photograph. But it gives something of an impression of heads on
long necks emerging from whirlpools. Technically it was extra
challenging in part because some of the glue joints are interior, and
difficult to reach. It is also quite fragile because of the long
thin parts. But the result is quite successful, with a playful sense of
dynamic motion.
