Fig. 7. Intarsia panel by Fra Giovanni da Verona, at the
church of Santa Maria in Organo, Verona, circa 1520. This is a flat panel
constructed of inlaid wood, designed to fool the eye by appearing three-dimensional.
One of several polyhedral masterpieces by Giovanni, this art form peaked
in the early 1500s. This example contains the polyhedra shown in Figures
1 and 3 (and the cuboctahedron from the same source); other examples contain
